Frequently Asked Questions

Adult residents (18+ years old) on the lease of an apartment unit within an HCA Live member community may create and maintain an account on this platform.

If you are unsure whether your apartment building has a membership with us, please see Where We Teach for a complete list.

If your community is not on the list and you would like to take advantage of our services, we encourage you to convey your interest to the management company so they can reach out to us about HCA Live membership opportunities.

All HCA Live accounts are FREE to residents of an HCA Live member community. A community’s membership status is determined by the management company and HCA.

To create an account, you will need an Internet connection and a mobile phone number. To access and use your account thereafter, you will need an Internet-connected device such as a smartphone, tablet, laptop, or desktop computer, as well as a mobile phone number for login.

To participate in online or livestream classes from a remote location, we strongly recommend that you download Zoom to the Internet-connected device you plan to use for classes.

Fill out our simple account creation form which asks for basic contact information, like your first and last name, apartment community and unit number.

Please note that we ask for your date of birth for the sole purpose of verifying your residency with the management company of your building and confirming that you are indeed an adult (18+ years old) who may legally consent to our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

An account on this platform will allow you to peruse and sign up for any HCA-led activities that will be available in-person and/or online at or for (residents of) your community.

Our classes can range quite a bit in specificity but generally fall into the categories of arts, wellness, life skills, and academics. In the spring, we also facilitate assistance with our annual scholarship program. For a more detailed idea of our classes, we encourage you to visit our schedule.

We have a few different formats for our classes: in-person, online, livestream, and on-demand. By providing different options, we hope to make our classes accessible to a wide range of residents.

This is a class that one of our HCA instructors teaches in-person to residents of a particular HCA Live member community. In-person classes are generally ongoing and provided on a weekly basis in that specific building’s Community Room.

Please keep in mind that in-person classes take place at a select number of HCA Live member communities. If your community is not one of them, we encourage your participation in our online, livestream, and on-demand classes.

An online class is a class where students meet their teacher in an online classroom. Our online classrooms are provided courtesy of Zoom. In a Zoom room, you can see and hear yourself, the instructor, and other participants in real time.

A livestream class is a class that is taught in-person at an HCA Live member community using a special technology that simultaneously streams the class over the Internet. Residents from any HCA Live member community may join a livestream class remotely via a Zoom link just as they would an online-only class. Livestream classes are true hybrid classes in the sense that they allow for both in-person and online participation at the same time.

These are pre-recorded video classes covering various subject areas. You may watch them as many times as you like, whenever you like, as long as you are logged into your HCA Live account.

All of our classes and activities are designed to be as accessible as possible to residents in attendance. For that reason, we typically provide most—if not all—supplies where needed. The extent of supplies you would be expected to bring on your own might include something like a water bottle (if desired) and comfy shoes for an exercise class.

For online classes that require supplies (ie: art classes), we ask you to sign up for a class 5+ days in advance and then contact us with your supplies needs so we can arrange for their timely delivery to your door. These supplies are provided to you at no cost as part of your community's HCA Live membership.

Glad you asked! We will happily schedule a 1-on-1 orientation for any new student who wants to practice accessing class in advance on their device. If you have trouble accessing a class at any point thereafter, we will gladly offer you a refresher. Simply Contact us to let us know your interest and availability.

At this time, you may sign up for classes taking place this week or next week using the SCHEDULE page of our site. We’ve found that releasing classes with more notice than that results in higher rates of no-shows.

Of course! We encourage you to try out different classes with different instructors to see what you like the most. From art to exercise to music and more, we are sure there’s something for you.

Life happens – we know! If for any reason you cannot make a class that you signed up for, kindly take a moment to login to your account and click the red “Cancel” button next to the class in question on the “My Signups” page of your account.

Our staff put a lot of time and effort into preparing classes according to sign-up numbers, so they really appreciate that courtesy!

First, make sure that you have actually signed up for that class. If it doesn't appear on the “My Signups” page of your account after logging in, then you have not yet signed up for it.

Once you have confirmed signup for the class, check the time. Is class scheduled to start yet?

If it’s time for class to start, click the “Join” button to the right of the class in question. It is a hyperlink to the Zoom room where the class is being held. Follow the on-screen prompts and... voila!
